alm-lined beaches, sandy streets begging for bare feet, balmy marine reserves home to turtles and whale sharks, and lagoons where flamingos and pelicans roam… Isla Holbox is the tropical island you see on postcards. It’s my first visit to this blissful slip of land off the coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, and I’m pleased to see it comes with Caribbean charm to spare. There are no cars whatsoever, which means I can stroll without worry while taking in vibrant alfresco murals of local characters and marine life. Streets aside, I soon discover that many of the island’s restaurants also have sandy floors, which means I can kick my shoes off
