Don’t be Scared

Isaac Mark Shelley’s life began in the Hawkesbury area near Sydney, in 1990.

He has lived in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney for more than ten years. He worked at Glenbrook Nursery in the lower mountains for a few years; and more recently began working at his family’s cafe – known as the ‘Arts Café Katoomba Falls’.

“My only art education really was doing art while at school; which was pretty much the only subject I was enjoying by the end,” he admits. “I always knew I wanted to be an artist when I left school. I’ve done a few short art courses here and there but I much prefer just working at home where I can make a mess and experiment. I left school in Year 11. All I wanted to do was paint and I basically felt I was wasting my time at school after that point … so that’s when my parents were kind enough
