Plan the Pathway

I am an Aussie with Polish origins. My father was born in Warsaw; he served in the Polish army and spent the last eight months of the war as a German POW on the outskirts of Hamburg. My mother was born in Lodz, Poland. She had to flee her home and also ended up on the outskirts of Hamburg. They met and married, and were moved to another refugee camp near the city. I was born in the camp in 1947. Two years later our little family arrived in Australia – a couple of weeks before Christmas 1949.

My Aussie husband Barry and I have been married since November 1968 and we have two children. Our daughter is also an emerging artist.

My Polish heritage has a big influence on my art, especially my acrylics. I love the vivid colours of the village art of Wycinanki (pronounced vichee-nan-ki) which features paper cut-outs, traditionally depicting everyday life and special events (especially
