Everything You Need to Know About Intermittent Fasting
Fasting has been a common practice throughout human evolution. Historically, humans didn’t always have access to food all year round. Avoiding food for several hours was (and is) also observed in many religions and social customs across the globe. Our species, as a result, can function without food for extended periods of time.
And while, over eating during certain periods of time. Intermittent fasting, as the name suggests, is a timed approach, which involves alternating between periods of fasting and eating. Two of its most popular modes are fasting for 16 hours daily, and then eating meals in the remaining eight hours; or fasting for 24 hours, two days a week. What sets this approach to dieting apart from the other lose-weight-with-minimal-effort schemes, is that during the ‘feeding’ periods, you are allowed to eat whatever you want. And that’s probably what appeals to most people. You can carry on intermittent fasting till you have achieved your goal, but the minimum time recommended for it to take effect is 10 weeks.
