In recent years long-range shooting has taken off and is growing in popularity among shooters and hunters. Few shooting platforms are locally available to accommodate this need.
Anthony Worsdale from KwaZulu-Natal, who developed the Ultimate Portable Shooting Platform (UPSP), says most good production rifles today will shoot 1MOA (29.1mm at 100m) groups, with some even managing a ½MOA. However, even though mechanical consistency is attained, the human body is an unstable platform and therefore we usually rely on bipods, sandbags and various other aids.
