BA and Qatar Airways to resume A380 flights

BRITISH AIRWAYS AND QATAR AIRWAYS are both set to resume services with the A380 superjumbo in the coming weeks.

BA will bring back four of its A380 aircraft, with short-haul familiarisation flights this month, followed by long-haul services to Miami, LA and Dubai from December.

At the time of writing it was understood that the short-haul A380 routes would include Frankfurt and Madrid, although this had not been confirmed by the carrier.

Meanwhile, Qatar Airways is to operate A380 flights to Heathrow and Paris CDG in December. The airline had previously stated that it was “not commercially or environmentally justifiable to operate such a large aircraft in the current market”, but it has been forced into the move due to issues with its A350 fleet which have resulted in a loss of capacity.
