Joint Plant
China and Indonesia signed a memorandum of understanding in Jakarta on October 18 to conduct a feasibility study of a $560-million coal-to-methanol plant.
“The cooperation is very important for the industrial sector. The Ministry of Industry really appreciates companies with a vision to initiate coal gasification projects and support this pioneering industrial investment plan,” Indonesian Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said at the signing ceremony.
Representatives from Indonesia’s PT Powerindo Cipta Energy and China National Chemical Engineering Corp. also attended the event.
