LOCH LOMOND AND THE TROSSACHS
Glittering waters and stunning snowscapes make southern Scotland a perfect winter destination. It’s all about the views here, of vast lakes fringed by mountains, and pine-scented woods shimmering in the low winter sun. Climb to a vantage point such as Callander Crags, or follow the Scottish Scenic Route, a trail of art installations that mark viewpoints on the main roads around the park.
WINTER WILDLIFE Whooper swans and goldeneye ducks gather on the water, and red deer descend to the lower slopes to graze. You might even glimpse a red squirrel darting around in the trees.
