BEFORE you get in too deep and spend lots of money, read up and visit local fanciers. The start itself will probably be made from an impulse buy – but from that point, plan ahead and do nothing in a rush.

There are many really good books that I would recommend about budgies. by Gerald Binks was published in the 1970s and it is (by Gerald, again), plus the different colour books by various writers. Many of them can be purchased via the Budgerigar Society website.
