How I Wrote: Emma Barnes

“As you know, poetry does not pay,” says Emma Barnes, explaining why they are talking to North & from their other workplace, where they spend four days a week as general manager of a “private establishment that trains people to be software developers”. When they moved into tech 11 years ago, Barnes worked out quickly how to negotiate a four-day week to leave time for writing. Their debut collection is in stores now.
