To be honest, when Sumien informed her group of younger friends (who, at one stage or another, had all worked with her on one of the many magazines she has been editor of ) that she, now living alone, had decided to move from a perfectly positioned and gorgeously styled small Victorian house in Tamboerskloof to a huge unconverted office in an old building, which neighboured an Adult World and overlooked the back of a once terribly grand hotel, in inner city Cape Town, they were slightly alarmed. And yet, one such friend (and Why this place? Surely it was such a risk at the time?
