Textiles have framed Manina Baumann's world since she first studied textile design and worked as a colour and textile consultant in the '80s. Her love for cloth, colour and the history of motif and pattern has evolved since childhood. When Manina looks back at some of her textile designs from university, there are pattern motifs she was drawn to that you'll find in many of her Suzanis today. Whenever she travels, a piece of tapestry, a or a special cushion cover will find its way into her luggage. Manina's City Bowl home in Cape Town is its own book of history, experience and emotion. Furniture, art and collectibles that have a narrative have invariably found their way into the family's home. Lifestyle editor and fabric lover Vicki Sleet caught up with Manina in her exquisite, alluring home.
