For fans of the original Pony Car, it meant no more having to source decent classic Mustangs in the States and then importing them over here at great expense; instead, now you could walk into a Ford dealership and order your own righth-and-drive version.

Originally sold here with both a 2.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine and also a 5.0-litre V8, the sixth-generation Mustang comes in either Fastback or Convertible body styles, and with a choice of manual or automatic transmissions. It has so far gone down well with UK buyers, despite a disastrous two-star Euro NCAP safety showing in 2017
