What is the ratio setting on the Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT used for?

Speedlites like the 430EX III-RT that can control other units with radio or optical wireless make it simple to control the balance between two or three groups of flashes. Sender units on the camera control group A and group B remote units independently. It’s common to use group A to light the subject from one direction, and group B from another. If the Speedlite on the camera also illuminates, it is included in group A.
