MOORE and more

Looking at an illustrious career that spans three decades, it would be fair to say Julianne Moore has ‘made it’ in the acting world. Yet for her it’s just been about doing what she loves. ‘If you’re lucky to find something that interests you and to be able to pursue it, that’s fantastic. That’s what you want. That’s a measure of success, if you’re doing something that you really enjoy – and then you manage to get paid, because that’s not a given.’

It was a simple love of telling stories that led her to acting. ‘When I was kid, I liked to read. I was pretty good at school, but I wasn’t athletically inclined. I had no hobbies. So I ended up trying out for the school play with the rest of the nerds. To my surprise, I could do it, and it didn’t feel any different than reading out loud. I just liked how acting made me feel, and I loved stories, and I thought that was a good enough reason to do something for a living.’
