Like me, many Mini fans will recall that 1999 was a frenzy of excitement. Weekend after weekend I attended Mini events celebrating the Mini's 40th anniversary, culminating in the International Mini Meeting/Mini 40 celebrations at Silverstone. A special 40th anniversary Mini was produced by Rover. I had read all about them, in MiniWorld, of course, but I first saw one at Crystal Palace Park on the day of the London to Brighton Mini Run. Radio DJ ‘Diddy' David Hamilton was there driving one. I remember being amazed at how plush and special the Mini looked. I wanted one, predictably, but couldn't afford one as I was a student at the time.
