t’s not until we have finished with what is virtually summer shooting that we get caught up in the spirit of true autumn sport and realise its difference, its potentialities and, above all, its superior merits. Grouse shooting is, of course, the only perfect summer shooting, ideal in its setting and in its execution. It occupies a very special niche in the sportsman’s gallery, where we can leave it in unrivalled glory and undisputed excellence.
