Benjamin Avery’s arrangements are like miniature ecosystems, complete with their own laws of gravity and unique topographical features. “Each composition is a little world. An island in the sea; a cavernous rock formation; a mossy outcrop; mountain ranges; alien terrain or an entire coral reef,” says Avery who, as his Instagram handle suggests, is indeed colourblind. “Runs in my family,” he adds with a chuckle.
