I don’t think I’ve ever ridden a motorcycle that was worth more than the deposit I put down to buy my first house. This luscious new flame-red Italian supermodel from Ducati, known as the Multistrada V4S Full Package with spoked wheels, is priced at $40,790 ride away. Gulp.

And for seven days straight I kept asking myself: would I ever pay over 40-grand for a bike? It was a vexing question. Every sensible ounce of my being kept answering, don’t be a fool! For around 40K I could get a V-Strom 1050XT and a Ténéré 700 and spend every morning flipping a coin to see which bike I’d ride.
But for seven days straight my impractical, outrageous,
