PINTO INTO MK1 CORTINA

Q I want to Pinto a Mk1 Cortina. Can you tell me what needs to be done to get it in — what type of sump, for example? Also, am I better running a Pinto or Essex V6?

A Fitting the Pinto is a bit more involved than the following, but here are the basics:

First off you need to decide whether you’re sticking with the standard steering box or going for a steering rack conversion. The former means using a front-bowl sump (fabricate your own, or try and source one from the US Pinto car) whereas with the rack conversion you can use the Escort RS2000’s alloy sump. Either way
