WHAT THE CLUCK
IN A SMALL PATCH OF GREEN WITHIN THE HILLS OF THE CITY of Los Angeles, there’s a self-described “Stoney Misfit Cinderella” working over the cackle of hens and one rooster, turning out beautiful and inspiring cannabis-infused baked goods, using the eggs they lay.
“This is a unique part of the city,” Christina Wong, creator of Baking With Chickens explained. “I’m minutes from downtown, but I’m on a little hill surrounded by trees and nature.” Baking With Chickens is a how-to baking vlog about chickens and their eggs.
Burritoberry, Snozzberry, Pickleberry, Lady Olgaberry, Fizzleberry and Leelaberry lay the eggs, while Dude the rooster presides over the ladies in a garden filled with edible herbs and flowers used for cooking, baking and decorating.
“I grow nasturtiums, violas, pansies, calendulas, cosmos, zinnias and have two roses,” she shared. “The rose petals are used to roll petal joints—but, I didn’t always bake with cannabis. That came later.”
