The many faces of Christ

THE facial features of Jesus have long been at the heart of a heated debate, with many anthropologists arguing (), and , a 12ft-long altarpiece inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s masterpiece. Both works show Jesus as a black man. ‘The aim of this exhibition is to bring all God’s people to an understanding that we are all made in the image of God,’ says Revd Canon Lameck Mutete, who believes ‘we should all be spiritually moved to an understanding of an inclusive Jesus, who is neither black, white, pink or yellow’.
