Make a tone and temperature study of the head

The painting Portrait of Adrian (below) is taken from the series of paintings that I have been making of Adrian in recent years. Both the oil study I made last month in part 1 of this series (below right) and the study demonstrated here (right), refer directly to this portrait as they examine the values and temperatures of those values foundon the head, neck and shoulders. Both studies give us the time to examine the tone and temperature relationships before beginning to work with the fullcolour palette.
