So you started in the motorcycle trade as a school boy?
I started at 14, working part-time after school, on weekends and during school holidays. By the time I was 16, I was working full-time. By then I was an all-rounder, and I could work in sales, spares or the workshop, but I never did an apprenticeship. It was my father’s shop, Ron Gill Motorcycles, which, at various times, sold Lambretta and Vespa
