E-type mice?

Q Please help. I have a 1969 Series 2 E-type roadster that, while not in concours condition, is in extremely good order and I drive it on a regular basis. It has developed a squeak, seemingly from behind the dashboard, which occurs randomly in all manner of driving conditions.

I have checked the tightness of everything I can think of, including the heater pipes, wiper spindles, engine stabiliser mounting… all to no avail; I have had my girlfriend look behind the fold-down central instrument while I’m driving; I’ve removed the entire radio console and anything else I could think of.
