Hilo Trollers August 2021 Tournament Results

The Hilo Trollers ran their August tournament on Sunday, August 8. Eleven boaters participated, and a good time was had by all. Eight of the 11 caught fish, and some very nice-sized fish came up. Five ‘ahi, nine ono and one mahimahi were weighed. No marlin were landed. The largest ‘ahi and largest fish overall was a 118.2-lb ‘ahi landed on the TAKO EYE by Capt. Matt Castro and crew. The TAKO EYE landed the only, and hence largest, mahimahi and took Grand Champion honors for bringing in 229.7 lbs of flag fish including two ‘ahi and one mahimahi. With 16.7 lbs of marine trash, the TAKO EYE also edged out other boats for the ‘Opala Award.

The largest ono was a by Capt. Les Inouye and crew. The gift certificate donated by S. Tokunaga Store for the first flag fish landed went to the and Capt. Steven Guillermo and crew for a 27.5-lb ono. The gift certificate donated by J. Hara Store for the largest aku went to the and Capt. Kimo Oberle for a 5.7-lb fish.
