CHARDONNAY

94 Bergström 2019 Sigrid Chardonnay (Willamette Valley). Sigrid is the barrel select reserve bottling made from a mix of several different vineyard sources. It’s a juicy, full-bodied wine, with lush tree fruits and beautifully proportioned acidity. Accents of lemony herbs add further detail, and as it winds down through a long finish, the barrel toast is set against a piercing minerality. This lovely wine is drinking beautifully already but could be cellared another half decade. —P.G.

93 Aubaine 2019 Anahata Vineyard Chardonnay (Eola-Amity Hills). For full review see page 114. Editors’ Choice.

abv: 13% Price: $45

Just a handful of wineries can source fruit from this iconic vineyard. This succulent wine is creamy, buttery and laced with caramel and yet retains a solidly firm foundation. The acidity is moderate despite the low alcohol, and aging in one-third new French oak adds a touch of smoky toast as a frame for the peach and melon fruit.
