here’s a delicate strength woven into Kyra Mancktelow’s dilly bags, created using local grasses and a traditional looping technique. On their own, the grasses can be snapped, shredded and set on fire. Woven together, they create a continuous unbreakable bond uniting the natural world with 60,000 years of Indigenous culture. An imprint of a dilly bag hangs across, which took out the Telstra Emerging Artist Award at the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island Art Award (NATSIAA).
