Innovation Leader

China remains the only middle-income economy listed in the world’s top 30 most innovative ones, according to a report released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) on September 20.

WIPO’s Global Innovation Index (GII) 2021 shows that China moves from ranking 14th in 2020 to 12th this year, and is “knocking at the door of the GII top 10,” which “underlines the continued importance of governmental policies and incentives to stimulate innovation.”

Since 2013, China has consistently moved up in the GII rankings, establishing itself as a global innovation
