It would be nice to start the column with stories of longer rides for a change, and indeed the new found freedoms have permitted some at last. Unfortunately the longer rides were associated with funerals, which are an occupational hazard at PUB’s time of life, and where she renews acquaintance with many an old friend.
The first of these, only shortly after restrictions lifted, was that of Heather MacGregor and Ted Trett – and what a turnout there was for the intrepid couple. PUB has been to some big funerals, but in this cortege she counted well over 100 motorcycles (many with passengers) apart from cars, vans, or vehicles that had gone directly to the crematorium.
The Brough Superior club (of which she was President) were out in force with at least half a dozen on their Broughs. People had come from all parts of the country to demonstrate their regard, and in support of the grieving family, to whom it was hopefully some comfort.
