Medway memories
Geoff Lunn’s feature (SM, Aug) brought back many memories. I attended school in Rochester in the 1950s and 60s and I often made the short walk down to Blue Boar Pier to see ships unloading wood pulp into barges for the upriver paper mills. This was the start of a lifetime’s interest in ships. As well as carrying Scandinavian pulp, the ships brought imports from Canada, and I attach a picture I took of the Canadian Pacific ship Beaverelm at Rochester buoys.
