The new SUITS
As soon as I saw that Gucci’s AW21 collection included a version of their 1996 red velvet trouser suit, as worn by Gwyneth Paltrow and designed by Tom Ford, I was on a mission to find something similar. I mean, that is a suit with swagger, is it not? As I write this, I’m sure the high street is revving up for a flurry of velvet suits that are as near to the Gucci version as legally possible.
The red suit I picked is double-breasted with a cropped trouser. Although I was unsure about the shorter length at first, I found them flattering. It’s a leg length you can wear with trainers for day and heels by night. Tailoring is back, and
