01 Works by Mim Design (Untitled Press, 2021)

Celebrating 21 years in practice, Melbourne’s Mim Design has released a retrospective book looking at 13 of the studio’s most memorable projects. Founded by Miriam Fanning in 2000, Mim Design has carved out a reputation as a consistently excellent residential architecture and interiors firm with a focus on high-end projects. Reviewers in this magazine have praised the practice’s “lavish attention to detail” (MAH Residence, ) and its ability to achieve an “incredible level130). Printed and bound in Melbourne, includes thoughtful commentary on each of the 13 projects from Miriam Fanning, tracing the evolution of a designer and a practice. Hand-drawn sketches from the archives, along with the gorgeously rich photography, provide new perspectives of projects you may well have seen before. Providing further insight into the practice’s processes are interviews with regular collaborators Grazia and Co, and Behruz Studio. A foreword from design writer Karen McCartney touches on Mim Design’s approach to collaboration, illuminating the committed and often intimate relationship between client and studio.
