Well done to Bill Crighton for spotting that the APOY winner of the Landscapes round was a mirror image. Everyone expects post processing to some extent but does this picture go too far? My view is yes; a reflection is okay, a mirror image isn’t. It doesn’t really represent what the eye sees. Otherwise, we could end up with faked images for the APOY Architecture category such as the scenes of Paris from the film Inception. Yes, it’s Paris, but seen in a dream….

On the other hand we do want to see something distinctive and imaginative in landscape
