LAMBRETTA SERIES 1 RESTORATION

Once upon a time there was a 16-year-old lad in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, who was desperate to own a Lambretta, so during the summer of 1979, his dad took him to look at one for sale locally on St Denys Avenue. That lad was me and I pushed home my very own Lambretta Li150, only to find that it was Spanish and made in the Eibar factory during 1972.

Back then, I wasn’t the only one having this scooter dream that year and along with a group of local parka-wearing lads we got together and made ourselves known at local dances, house parties and cafes where we could be among our peers; there were Punks, Skins and Rude Boys among those peers – but it was being a Mod for us.
