Brooklands testing

They say that racing is infectious. It certainly seems to be the case for Howard Harman who, already owning and actively racing a 1947 MG TC single-seat special, decided to add to his stable this 1935 MG KN-type, built into an NE lookalike. It was far from ready to race however, and, like his TC, a rebuild was soon required to get it ready for the abuses of the track.

The NE occupies a small but significant place in MG racing history. Based on the 1934 N-Type, largely an evolution of the K-type and L-type models, the NE was a racing-specification car with all the usual improvements to be expected at the time. All, that is, except for a supercharger because, for the 1934 Tourist Trophy race, an important date in the racing calendar, the use of compressors was banned. So, out were the supercharged K3s
