Marvellous MINCE
ONE-PAN BEEF AND BASIL PASTA
SERVES 4 PREP AND COOK: 25 MINS
500g beef mince
1 onion, finely chopped
575g jar roasted garlic tomato pasta sauce
400g can crushed tomatoes
375g farfalle pasta
1 cup fresh basil leaves, plus extra to serve
Shaved parmesan, to serve
1 Heat an oiled, large, deep frying pan over a medium to high heat. Add beef and onion. Cook, stirring to break up mince, for about 5 minutes, or until browned.
2 Stir in pasta sauce, tomatoes and 2 cups of water until combined. Add pasta. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Simmer, covered, for 10 minutes.
3 Uncover. Cook, stirring occasionally, for a further 5 minutes, or until pasta is cooked and sauce is slightly thickened. Stir in basil leaves. Serve with shaved parmesan and extra basil leaves.
Great idea
Try replacing farfalle pasta with penne or rigatoni, for a change. Dish is best cooked just before serving. Serve with a side salad.
