In my mind’s eye, I sometimes fancy I can see the Riboldis’ shop on George Street in its heyday. Gilded mirrors filling every wall, gleaming frames stacked deep on the floor, a thousand reflections caught in the candlelight and illuminating the dark interior.
Everywhere the glint of gold’, as Howard Carter might have put it. (OK, not quite Tutankhamun’s tomb, but you get the general idea!)
