IN THE 1950S, CALIFORNIA’S CAR culture, surfing and skateboarding were part of living in the post-war generation. Initially skateboarding was referred as “sidewalk surfing”. Boards were handmade from wooden boxes and used roller skate wheels as carefree children played on the streets and parks. In 1959, they began to evolve when manufacturers used stronger and lightweight materials for their ultimate performance.
