A Time for Doing
Early autumn is a great time to make some improvements in the garden. Chances are you will have been taking stock over the summer and if not making written notes, mental ones at least. Even if you haven’t, most plants bar spring bulbs are still in evidence and can be assessed now. Herbaceous plants may be dying back, but you can still see the extent of their coverage and, with a little imagination perhaps, their height and presence at their peak. As deciduous leaves colour and fall, there is a sense of something loved being dismantled.
