Autumn kit picks
No matter who or what you are, autumn is a season of change. Decreasing temperatures and daylight hours turn the leaves on trees from green to gold, but those same conditions tend to have a less glorious transitional effect on our fitness levels.
Apart from the masochists that take part in the hill climb season, autumn sees the competitive calendar all but over. That summer race pace reduces to a level more conducive to conversation and those heartening stops for coffee and cake seem more necessary as the mornings get chilly and wet weather puts in an appearance at least once on every ride. Perennial – albeit fragile – hopes of an Indian summer mean it isn’t quite time to consider trading real roads for virtual ones just yet, but autumn prompts a distinct change in how you ride.
