A quick history lesson Australian Flat-track racing has been around for close to a century, it dates all the way back to 1925 when the first Australian 5-mile dirt track championship was run at Penrith NSW and won by Billy Conoulty.
Since way back then it has often come under many different names Long-track, Short-track, Dirt-track, Short circuit or Flat-track. Each different name is generally associated with the track layout. Long-track is your typical trotting track layout and Short-track is very similar just shorter in overall track length by roughly 200 meters.
