ANGLING BOAT FATALITY

man who drowned after becoming entangled with the anchor line of a sinking 39ft motorboat off the Fleetwood sank in 5m of water during a sea angling trip. Its owner made a Mayday call shortly before. While in the water, the owner’s son’s legs became entangled in anchor rope and despite rescue efforts by the crews of two nearby boats, he drowned. The report states: ‘The son’s chances of survival would have been increased had he been wearing a personal flotation device.’
