RST Race Dept V4.1 Airbag one-piece suit

Tested by: Mikko Nieminen | £999.99 | www.rst-moto.com

Yep, I know, you don’t get much change from a grand, but the RST Race Dept V4.1 Airbag suit is a premium product. It has been developed by racers such as the TT ace Ian Hutchinson, WSBK rocket Alex Lowes, and many others on racetracks around the world.

The V4.1 Airbag one-piece is constructed with a 60/40 split of Kangaroo leather and cowhide. The big selling point is the integrated airbag technology from In&motion, built into the garment for maximum protection.

The suit is also reinforced with Aramid protection, and fitted with a full suite of level 2 CE-certified armour. It’s no wonder that the V4.1 leather suit exceeds the highest AAA CE-rating.

The suit not only has knee sliders, but elbow sliders too, although at my riding speed the elbow sliders are there just for looks. The inner knee grippers come in handy when you are locking your legs into the bike.

The suit has a sporty cut, and it’s definitely more at home when you’re riding a sportsbike on track rather than bimbling down a country road on a cruiser, but that’s really the point isn’t it. Once you have the suit on and you’re on a bike it feels great, like a second skin, but getting it on and off

The Longest Day Teapot
I’d gone into this project with my eyes wide open, knowing that there would be a fair amount of spanner-twirling to get the bike up and running – it is, after all, a bike that I bought for 400 quid… but, ever the optimist, I had rather fooled myself
