Statistics from Haiti’s earthquake on 14 August are stark: at least 2,207 people have been confirmed dead and more than 12,000 injured. More than 130,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed. Aftershocks, and landslides in the wake of Tropical Storm Grace mere days after the earthquake, mean those numbers are expected to rise.
