COOK SHINES AS SUTTON TURNS THE SCREW
While Josh Cook was the big points winner at Thruxton in his BTC Racing Honda Civic, with a victory and a second place on his way to a whopping 50-mark haul from the weekend, table-topper Ash Sutton was the man with the biggest smile.
The Laser Tools Infiniti driver won the second race and it helped him to outscore both his title rivals – Tom Ingram (Excelr8 Trade Price Cars Racing Hyundai i30 N) and Colin Turkington (WSR BMW 330i M Sport) – at the close of play.
The meeting was signed off with a flourish and a superb second win of the campaign fromAdam Morgan (Ciceley Motorsport BMW 330i M Sport) who has moved up to sixth in the table as a result, but he is an awful long way from the superb Sutton.
Race one
Before last weekend’s meeting, the Honda Civic FK8 had won seven of the last 15 BTCC races at Thruxton. So when Dan Rowbottom pulled a pole-winning lap out during qualifying in his Team Dynamics, it looked like the pattern was set to continue – particularly as the Kidderminster driver only had 27kg of success
