My mum had endo, but wasn’t diagnosed until she was 42. She had a full hysterectomy shortly after, and her abdomen was riddled with adhesions; the extensive damage to her bowel resulted in her using a stoma for two years.
My periods began when I was nine and were always painful, but I didn’t seek a doctor’s help until I was about 17. After repeated visits, being put on the pill, which didn’t work, I was eventually listened to when I was around 26.
