GAA Classic Cars Auction

As the second quarter of the 2021 auction season got underway, GAA Classic Cars held its second of four scheduled auctions at its dedicated facility in Greensboro, North Carolina, on April 22-24. According to the company, this event was added to the calendar in part to offer 175 no-reserve vehicle lots — mostly prewar cars, plus several noteworthy 1960s performance Mopars — from the collection of the late Ron Jones of Tennessee. By our count, it helped GAA present a total of 558 vintage and contemporary vehicles to in-person registered bidders and consignors (though phone and internet bidding was also arranged).

Ford is two-for-two this year at the top of GAA sales. When the last lot had crossed the block, a 2006 Ford GT — with its odometer reportedly reading a scant 11 miles — led the sales list after achieving a price of $365,000 (all listed sale prices include a buyer’s premium). It was followed closely by a 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird that realized $320,000, and a ’69 Dodge Charger Daytona with a 440-cu.in. engine that brought $250,000.
