anrick Estate is a comfortable hour’s drive north from Glasgow, around ten minutes beyond Blair has a great butcher counter (for BBQ fans), plus lots of home-baking and locally grown produce. There’s also where you can pick strawberries, feed the animals or try the jumping pillows and zip slide. Back at Lanrick, there’s plenty to keep both parents and kids occupied (once they get over the lack of TV and wi-fi). While away an afternoon discovering forest trails, incredible picnic spots, a magical fairy door, ancient caves and places to spot otters along the river.
