The last word

Well, hasn’t it been good to get out? I spent three days on the road visiting various sales and finished at the Marshall Club’s excellent Marshall’s Yard event on Sunday 25 July, at Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.

There were 39 machines at the event, including John Stephenson’s 1930 7nhp traction engine, no. 85620, that he has just put up for sale. Also present was Ducksburys’ wonderful 1900 Marshall. Paul Ducksbury’s late mother bought the engine in 1968, for £640, and it is the oldest in the world.
